Liquid Identities

Wine is a national patrimony that plays a large role in Spain’s culture and gastronomy. The immense variety of wines produced in Spain echoes the diversity and cultural complexity of the nation. Liquid Identities: Bottling the Nation is an interdisciplinary study of Spanish wine as a cultural product that is produced, packaged, distributed around the world. In this book, I will argue that Spanish wine functions as a site through which to better understand the complexities of the Spanish nation wherein cultures and identities are created, reified, and preserved.
